Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels

On Sunday, September 30, Saint Thomas's will celebrate the Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels.

Of the many angels mentioned in the Bible, only four are referred to by name: Uriel, Raphael, Gabriel, and the Archangel Michael, considered to be the leader of the Army of God. He appears in the Book of Revelation, where Michael and his angels are said to have fought against a dragon (a representative of the Devil) and won, thus protecting the people from evil and delivering peace to them at the end of their life struggles.

In artwork, Michael is often depicted defeating a dragon, and almost always carries a lance or sword.
