SUPPORTING THE PUBLICATION OF OUR NEW PARISH HISTORY

To help mark the parish’s 150th anniversary, Household of God, 1994–2024, volume 2, will be published in November 2024 as our sesquicentennial year concludes. Much of the book will cover the thirty years since 1993, when the first volume celebrated the 100th anniversary of the parish church designed by Eden Smith. We estimate the book (in cloth with a dust jacket) will be in excess of 300 pages, featuring a sixteen-page colour section as well as many black and white photos. More than fifty contributors have agreed to participate.

As with the first volume, topics will include the different incumbents who have led the congregation; aspects of the church building not treated in the first volume, such as the baptistery, the triptych, and the heraldic devices in the Lady chapel; updates about the Larkin-Stuart Lectures and vestments; a section on guilds and groups and another on outreach; a number of special topics (such as vocations to the priesthood from St. Thomas’s, the music ministry, stewardship, and several features on individuals and families), as well a gathering of reminiscences and tributes by former clergy and current parishioners.

The total cost of producing 500 to 600 copies through Coach House Printing, located next door to the church, is $24,000. However, it is evident that sales alone will not meet the expenses. We also have some “upfront” costs involving commissioned photography. During our first fundraising effort, the November 2023 gala brunch co-ordinated by Phil Spencer and Mark Manore, we announced an opportunity to support the book project through subscriptions and donations.

We invite parishioners and friends of the parish to act as patrons by either

  • subscribing to Household of God, volume 2, for $150 (for our 150th!); or

  • becoming donors of a larger amount.

You will receive a copy of the book, within which your name will be included in either the subscribers’ list or the donors’ list, and a tax receipt will be issued for the amount less the estimated list price of the book of ($45). Please complete the form on this page.

Note: We aim to make the books available at a launch in November 2024. If you are unable to pick up your copy at the church, there is a place on the form to indicate that you will require shipping.
